In other news, the Mare VN has just been released. As some other anon suggested, booth is the only way to buy the "seiso" version, so I bought that one.
Couple of things first I've noticed in the first few minutes.
>Booth payment went too smoothly, so after digging around a bit it turned out it Booth still had a sepa agreement from me from a couple of years ago, which I don't think is quite in line with EU law
>Game is just a bit over 350 MB large and in 1080p
>Game on boot-up asks you if you want to download a JP language pack, or continue in Japanese, both written in English
>Accepting it started a download, after finishing it the game restarted and everything was in my system language
>The language list is beyond large, so while I was waiting for the English download to finish I've noticed several translation errors from the few UI buttons in my interface, meaning all of it is likely machine translated
>Game itself seems to be using some self-made engine or something truly arcane
>Suspicion is further confirmed, as some usual VN settings/features are missing, i.e. no keyboard rebind options, no right click to "cancel", or the missing localization strings so some settings are simply displayed as "ASMR_BGM"
>EN script so far seems fine from the first 10 minutes, might be because most automated translation tools are kinda fine-tuned for the most common target languages at this point, which happen to include English
>Auto button can only be toggled on, but not off without manually proceeding to the next scene
>You are simply referred to as "I", which is either highly philosophical or a shitty machine translation
>Mare is very seiso
Will give it a review once I finish it. Something tells me this isn't going to be Fate/stay night length, but rather something more akin to Nekopara length-wise.
