Look, early Stargate is like Startrek. Yes, there's some overarching plot each season, but for the most part, each episode is a self contained adventure exploring sci-fi concepts. Like teleportation, Time travel, dealing with primitive cultures, dealing with hyper-advanced cultures.
There's just more guns and the plot is ultimately resolved with copious amounts of C-4
