Much of the film is quite literal to the point where if you watch it at face value you can takeaway just as much as digging deeper into it. The movie is a representation of the average human life, something that anyone can relate to in any of the scenes. If you think its "pretentious" then you need to rewatch it and try to understand it, not on a deeper level, but on a surface level. You sound jaded and honestly somewhat retarded.
