The bad fall suggests something different, though. Maybe the trauma caused a pressure on nerves built-up over time, and it can radiate pain to other areas of the body.
My relative had a similar issue, when he was a kid, he had an accident, that seemed to be a "non-issue" at the time, but when he hit 40, doctors had to remove a disc from his spine, because it literally broke in two.
