I feel like hires kept her details a lot more than the extras upscaling, but maybe there's something I'm missing - for example, UniPC (my sampler) isn't the best one for img2img. Whenever I'm doing img2img I pick Euler A, but for the sake of consistency I used the same sampler in every step of the process in both images. The only other difference is:

I think there's potential with this tech though, since you could reroll for better details, unlike hiresfix.
