I sometimes use them to check if I understood what holos are saying and if I got anything wrong, but you need to already have some kind of basic knowledge level in Japanese to be able to do that.
Also, some LiveTLs are skipping tons of stuff when translating.If you want to actually start learning, /fbk/ has a guide for that, you should check it out.
