Hey hey people. For those of you who actually read HoloFantasy, tell me; what is your opinion on the combat and how it's formatted? Do you actually go and read the rolls sheet for combat at the end? Are you a number enjoyer? And, if you read Pure Black (which if you did, thank you, I hoped you enjoyed it), how did you feel about the 'combat' sections with Noelle therein and how they were resolved, IE a handful of rolls to determine successful counterattack against her and her subsequent defeat?
I ask because I'm considering cutting down a bit of the combat stuff into more of how it played out in PB and during the fight with the Dark Knight when DT was first activated; a handful of rolls as opposed to an entire turn-based fighting system determines what happens, how it happens and ultimately a victor and a way for the story to continue. It's ultimately easier for me to keep track of and to write out, and would help things feel less...samey. I've no doubt that some people have probably had their eyes glaze over during the more protracted engagements. The old (read as: current) system would still probably see use for Big Important Encounters such as final chapter encounters, secret schizoboss encounters, etc. as to not totally phase it out, just make it feel more important.
Part of why 7 has been taking so long has been, on top of the various other occurrences in my life, some burn-out from writing the segments out. There's one last big shit fest that's currently halfway done, but it's really helped to highlight how bogged down and long this can be. For example; it's reached five pages in length, and that's half-done. A significant portion of these documents are just people headbutting each other. It's really quite a lot if you add it all up.
So, I ask you these questions. Do you really enjoy things as they are and would prefer not to see them change, due to how "important" it is to the story's identity/part of the charm of it? Would you be opposed to things being more simplified for the sake of ease of reading? Is that one Anon still pissed at me for allowing that home wrecking hussy Marine to lay hands on Anon, forever robbing him of his purity and innocence before getting him utterly and completely addicted to destroying every hole on her body as monster enjoyers starve to death?
An additional thanks for all the support and critique so far.
