>>43540370Henri doesn't hold any claim to the basic truth that Idols are a mechanism for the disenfranchised to have a "Higher Power" to associate their own path through life with as a coping mechanism.
Idols are built around the concept of uplifting their fans as the parasocial exchange for support and the codependent complex of mutual development. As long as a gachikoi's Idol is rising and further developing themselves they are given the pass to feel the same. The "graduation ceremony" even operates as a faux crucifixion where in, through no fault of their own the performing persona is retired so that the gachkoi is, hopefully, elevated out of the place that put them in a position to require an Idol experience in the first place. Of course there are individuals who will react like Henri but that is a personal indictment and not a strike against the conceptual purpose of the current globalized Idol experience as offered by vtubers.
