They can't just load up Pomu's avatar and start streaming as Pomu. Vtubers if anything have a very unique amount of leverage over their employer because of the amount of time it takes to hire and train new vtubers and make their models. The only reason companies are allowed to just terminate people on the spot is because they have a large group to fall back on. If all of NijiEN unionized overnight Anykara would either need to give in to their demands or scrap the entire branch and lose all the profit it brings in.
And the funny thing is the livers themselves would lose nothing. The western internet always sides with workers over managers, they'd get a ton of public support to build their own company just by posting on /r/antiwork about how evil and corrupt Nijisanji is lmao. I'm kinda surprised vtubers haven't figured this out sooner, they generate 100% of the profit for their company, without them the whole thing falls apart.
