This is because livestock would not usually be given drugs so close to slaughter -- the drugs need to have enough time to exit the animal's bloodstream, or else they will potentially enter yours through consumption of the tainted meat. It's kind of looking like the meat from /meat/'s rituals would inevitably taste kind of whack and possibly also make consumers a little high. The flavor could be an acquired taste, though. It's not like we don't have examples of IRL cultures really liking certain flavors that are typically disliked by those who didn't grow up on them.
