If by 5k you mean basically anything less than hololive numbers, then the answer is yes, you're missing out.
Watching people like Nina Saotome play Dark Souls is pretty comfy because she knows what she is doing and her voice is chill. If you enter a fanbase and interact long enough with the peeps, it can also feel like home.
But I admit nowadays I don't have time for gaming streams, even if it's hololive. I only watch clips to keep up with bigger events. I will always have time for music, however. As music is short, and shareable, and doesn't occupy my whole attention. The best virtual singers and musicians usually lie outside hololive. The /vsinger/ thread is a godsend for me.
