I think alcoholics should be shown the bloated, rotting corpses of people who died of alcohol poisoning and liver cirrohsis after being found by neighbors or their loved ones who haven't seen them in weeks. Kind of like how they used to show violent crash footage and mangled bodies to people in car safety classes.
