It defeats the point for the same reason AI/robotic sports serves no purpose, and why AI chess has failed to replace human chess tournaments: nobody is surprised that you can build a robot that can hit a ball further or run faster than a human anymore than they're surprised that you can program a computer to play chess better than a human (especially when the program just does shit like give the computer clairvoyance to forecast all possible moves for like 20 future steps and picks the best sequence). In fact, you SHOULD be able to do that. Which is why nobody fucking cares. The point of sports, games, etc is to celebrate and glorify human achievement. What robots can do is irrelevant.
