It's the reason the idea of discussing ecelebs is mocked everywhere else on this site. You can't hypercritally obsess over people the way you can a game, TV series, or any other board topic. It's insane. You end up with obsessive parasocialism, or the strange commodification you witnessed in e.g. /lig/ where people you can directly interact with are depersonalized as vehicles for content and drama. And I guess the third thing you get are social clubs like /wvt/ but why you would choose to join the one on 4chan is beyond me.
