>>86830470You might want to look into the Hokuriku arch pass, unless you want to catch a cheap flight directly to the Kyoto/Osaka area. 30,000 yen gets you paid trains along the northern route from Tokyo to Kanazawa/Kyoto/Nara/Osaka area, so it's cheaper than buying a national rail pass.
Or you can just take regular trains if you wanna go to Hakone or something like one anon did.
