>>90307543Here I'll spoil it for you. In the 1960s the Soviet Union was pushing for Socialist Realism as the big artform of the USSR. As a way of countering it, the CIA gave our grants to a bunch of avant garde wierdos so that their artwork could be pushed basically as a way for America to say "see here in America, free expression is what succeeds instead of only the kinds of art the state approves of like we see in communism"
That's pretty much it, that's the CIA's connection to postmodern art, and it's a legit connection, but it's a lot more benign than most thought it would be before reading into it.
