A bit late with this follow up blogpost because the minecraft server was on fire, but now that it's calmed down I can focus again. Won't address the performance too much, there's things I could have done better but sometimes you just get fucked, more important than that is that the team is on thin ice, especially if more threads sign up to compete next time.
First issue is thread enthusiasm/proof of interest, we got somewhat lucky on that front this time because we were returning champions If it hadn't been the case I honestly think our signup would have been denied, but I had to use (You)s for POI because the survey made in july only got 2 responses while the threads had 20-25 average posters. Things did get more positive while the league was happening so it could have just been due to the lull in actual fans using the thread, I do thank the guy(s) that crossposted to /cope/, and it doesn't seem to have caused trouble if it was even noticed.
Second problem, and I think the more glaring one, is the lack of participation aside from polls and even variety of suggestions. I brought this up in a way shortly before things started, the guys running the show understand the -RyS, but even with that the team lineup is "lazy" in that most of the players are just "thing from stream" rather than thread culture, this is only so avoidable with a single chuuba team but we've been noted as especially bad for it. We also never have any hype videos or aesthetics input from the thread other than atalanta anon and the beautiful handmade models that I butcher. If that keeps up it's going to give the appearance that the team is just a one man show/my personal project rather than the thread's team, which would at the very least get me banned from the cup for a while.
I do share a bit of the blame in this, I didn't make many suggestions or put common topics of discussion on the poll because I wanted to make sure the team was a positive or at worst neutral influence on the thread, and until the last month or two most of what went on for the past year was just various antis using this as a playground while actual fans only came out during streams or abandoned for global or /cope/ altogether. While it's still supposed to represent the current state of /HiRyS/, I will step down/disband before slots on the team are used to reward/encourage shitting up the thread.
Going forward, i'm going to start with almost completely overhauling the roster. Starting with removing/consolidating a lot of filler players like meatball-chan and 2/3RyS, and the recent uptick in ritual posts like dino crisis gives more to work with. I'm even willing to bend a little on including rrats that have been shitposted into mockery like "-kun," but i'm still saying no to active annoyances like sound engineer or piggy posting
tl;dr I suck dicks
