Now, blue checkmarks just mean you have an $8 subscription to Twitter, and thus both @CovfefeChan and @covfefeChanReal can have one and impersonations are much easier.
Gold checkmarks are arguably more safe in that they cost $1,000 a month, though exclusive to businesses. Likely to prevent the hilarious impersonation boom shortly after Elon took over and introduced the blue checkmark subscription.
