To improve having new topics they should think about points to bring up for the day rather than winging it if they're the type that runs out of things to say 20 min in. To improve talking, again, it's a matter of practice, and you need to do it off stream too, a social hermit will not be able to engage with chat as effectively as someone who talks to varied people every day.
