it would be fine if they want a more idol focus but only implement it in the new gens they hired, like dev_is is whatever new approach they have basically and flowglow is like half literal idols. if that's their new direction then whatever - but the problem is trying to go back and retroactively apply this 'new direction' to years worth of a talent base that was built up under entirely different paradigms and expect it to either make sense or go smoothly. it's like being confused why a bunch of contruction roof workers you hired turn out to not be good plumbers and start to quit if you force them to do it and then yell at them for doing a bad job at it. for example they can talk about 'brand risk' all they want, people still remember matsuri for the piss and bandaid stories, lobotomizing her isn't gonna change peoples' image of her. it's pointless that the 'new direction' apply to old talents.
