Mahjong, being a luck based game, has your skill tested in endurance and endurance alone. You have to think sharp during an extended period of games, why? Because if you want to measure actual skill in the game, one hanchan won't cut it. Same with the current 4 format. Bracketing early on is also useless.
The average japanese Pro Tourney is 10 Hanchan per day over two days.
To be perfectly fair to the organizers, the nasfaq community has very varied skill levels present and the game is to be taken face value as gambling, also we were struggling to even get the obligatory 4 games together for each player due to people randomly jumping off. So as I said, it's just a thing I wanted to get off my chest to cope with my poor performance, but it's also actual commentary. But then again, we're not here to play Pro Mahjong either, I am very aware of that. Take it as a nitpick, let's have fun today.
