On most boards (that I use anyway) ecelebs are considered off topic or advertising and are (supposed to get) deleted for such, people also used to shit on you for trying to discuss ecelebs but not as much anymore these days since probably most users are in the age range where they grew up watching yogscast or Dream or some shit. That aside, /jp/'s topic is so broad that vtubers are technically considered on topic, so they weren't deleted, and once vtubers got popular in 2020 or whatever they ate up almost the entire catalog and brought in all these newfags who didn't give a shit about their usual culture, which was probably a true nightmare for /jp/ since they're a real "lurk more" board. So after enough complaining mods made /vt/ and all the vtuber shit started clearing out, there's still a few threads there but it's a much more reasonable amount and they could go back to a lot of their usual activities.
