Though it applies to all of our writings here, the tension is more palpatable when you know it could be read by people outside of here, even the talents themselves.
It ultimately comes down to watching streams. Stock phrases are handy to distinguish dialogue, but harder to come by is an understanding of the character's personality. You can naturally do this putting them in unfamiliar situations and seeing how they react, or if you wanted to have a little fun, you could take a personality test and pick the answers you think they would choose.
Others in this thread could probably help you more in this aspect, since this is something I struggle with too
