>>50735652Fundamentally Phase Connect is at the wrong here because they're the ones amplifying the issue.
The edits in that clip were distasteful and offensive, but not unacceptable. It's a type of humor that is enjoyed by many but certainly not what the company wants to associate with directly.
That much is fair so a correction is needed.
But what they've done is blow it up out of proportion and made it worse than it had to be with nothing to gain.
All they had to do was make it clear they did not endorse the edits made to the clips without making a big deal of it.
The only people watching that show are fans anyway so they won't mind the edits anyway and making a bigger deal out of it might actually attract people who could be a problem.
The only real issue here was not properly reviewing clips they were going to use.
That's what they actually need to fix in the future to prevent similar situations and avoid potential issues down the line.
Letting an actual talent pick the clips was actually a really good idea, people have forever complained the clips they choose are boring and this was a step towards improving that. One bad clip isn't worth scrapping that change entirely, it's an overreaction.
The real change they need is to simply review the clips before they use them.
Banning the clipper from the discord is also stupid, if he was behaving well there then what is the point of banning him? For all we know he used it to communicate with other clippers, fans or talents, and it helped them coordinate their work getting good clips. This was beneficial to the company.
Banning him just hurts them and it also makes them look poorly towards their fans who respected the clipper.
All they had to do was ban that clipper from being used for future weekly phase shows, since it's clear that clipper is into edgier humor than what they want to officially promote in their channel.
Those are really the only two changes they had to make.
Everything else is basically just shooting themselves in the food and banging their heads against a wall like retards and it's not doing them any favours.
To TL;DR it:
Letting talents choose clips is good, to avoid a situation like this in the future simply review the fucking clips before the show. Going back to how they worked before is only hurting them.
The clipper did nothing to deserve a ban from their community, his clip was just too edgy for their official channel, simply banning his clips from the show is enough. Banning him from their community only hurts that community and the company's reputation among fans.
