And even if you have disagreements on things you can have real discussions. My dad's more conservative in his viewpoints, one of his best friends is a classic liberal, and they make fun of each other's respective parties and the more extreme viewpoints held by the more batspit representatives... Banter and nuance gets lost a lot these days too often.
