A man turning out to be a (taken) dad doesn't illicit the same response as a woman turning out to be a mom, for better or worse. To many it just makes a man more attractive, provided he isn't an abusive/negligent asshole anyway.
So whether he's one or not, I don't think people are trying to take him down for it. People just find the concept endearing, though Vesper certainly doesn't that angle to be considered endearing.
