But voyage at sea is pretty perilous, I wonder if there isn't some natural defenses that we can use to our advantage. I remember reading Shogun way back when and there was a scene that was described where reefs and rocks + storm = a really bad time trying to land an oak ship on an island. Not sure what the topology of that island is like, but maybe we can make it so that there are only a few choke-points where entry to the island by ship is even possible.
