You're presuming an extremely simplistic, idealized, Epicurean model of human behavior and incentive structure that anybody over the age of twelve should immediately be able to see through. Off the top of my head, presuming that people simply "do things they enjoy" doesn't account for a) energy and motivation, b) distractions and obligations, or c) mental illnesses that disrupt the normal decision making process - among countless other things.
