menhera monday: language is fucked up. what is the definition or meaning of any word? usually it's at least represented by more words. what is the definition of a bridge?
1 a: a structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a depression or obstacle (such as a river)
it is a "pathway." what is a pathway?
2: a track specially constructed for a particular use
ok what's a "track"
a: the course along which something moves or progresses
what is a "course"
1: the act or action of moving in a path from point to point
2: the path over which something moves or extends
it goes in circles and could make no damn sense to you until a visual element is involved, but even then, looking at a photo of a bridge, you need to understand the concepts of what you're looking at. What is a mountain? What are rocks? What are cars? Ever since we're newborns we take in visual information, and soon start assigning sounds (words) to it. it's fucked up how smart we are. animals can communicate, but the level of complexity of language is crazy
the perfect singular word is one that's so ultra specific, it could only possibly represent one thing. Advertisers know this.
