Collabs with male nijisanji members and others were really common until gen 2. Even though male collabs became rare after 3rd gen debuted they never fully went away.
The idol thing was never walked back, there are always idols and always will be. Hololive was adamant to say that during Bloom. Not every member attended Bloom but Hololive put out a statement that every member of Hololive is a Idol whether they preform at Bloom or not.
Not all idols are strictly segregated by gender.
