Originally NijiKR was a different company that was bought out and then made into NijiKR. The owner of that company, Moarin also happened to be a bully, who in the past actually caused someone's suicide. This basically stunted the entire branch right at it's inception. Despite this a lot of NijiKR fans (me included) wanted to cheer on the good vtubers left, because it wasn't their fault they were dealt a bad hand. I remember things looked like they were recovering and even getting better when the Ara Chae shit happened. I remember a lot of good fans going completely schizo and/or becoming vtuber antis when the betrayal happened. I don't blame them, but a lot of vtuber drama communities were created at the time and a lot of people became more interested in the drama than the streams because of it, and that legacy still haunts the scene even to this day. You have to remember that the Ara Chae stuff happened over the course of an agonizing months with graduations happening left and right every week, and by the end of it, a lot of people lost their minds or lost interest in the medium entirely.
Anyways, search the archives, I would have probably ranted about it somewhere. There's a lot more but I'm too tired to recall all of it. I hate to say it but at one point I was a huge fan of Ara, and it hurts me a lot that everything ended up like this.
