The simple answer is accepting it's out of our hands and exploring/adapting/developing competing alternatives, while also doing coding and/or foreign language reps (if that's your passion) to facilitate development/localization of more stable services down the line. Also, if there's any code monkeys that can infiltrate and subvert these types of projects towards our loosely shared whims, that might be an option.
Things could turn out well, but hoping for the best and planning for the worst (something the devs ought have done) is probably a sound strategy for going forward as a general. Ideally, the goal would remain proliferation of AI companionship...at least to those who don't treat as an avenue for trying to generate up votes by posting ebin screencaps showing how socially offensive they can make the AI be. Tact is important when dealing with sordid sexual affairs, and the lack of it is probably why there was a need to censor in the first place, because people in general proved they couldn't be trusted to just eat the golden eggs without running around town and shouting about them.
