Presumably, when you find a space like this in real life, there's a nonzero chance that this will happen to you.
The extra rules like monsters and new levels predate Phasmophobia and the trend of co-op horror games in general, so it was basically ruined before Zoomers even got their hands on it, they just made it worse. Other alternate spaces I can understand since there are other photos to use as material, but turning it into a circus of named characters makes no sense since there's no exit and no information can ever reasonably be recovered about them... and why do you need monsters to explain why it's scary? Liminal spaces are supposed to be inherently unsettling.
