>>85036861It's funny because people thinking idol culture and vtubing are intrinsically linked is a case of misunderstanding history, given how Cover with its idol-centric vision of vtubing used to be negligible compared to early Niji with its 2D tech and focus on streaming.
With that said though, as it is now, the top end of vtubing IS about idols. You get a sizeable number of vtubers who are not looking to be anything more than just streamers, and even the more recent e-thot waves, but money volume-wise, yeah, it's idols.
