Foot fetishism specifically being a defect of the brain is a misnomer. Technically any kind of kink or sexual fixation whatsoever that isn’t just vaginal sex is basically a defect. Sexual arousal is purposely overclocked in people’s brain because it’s more biologically advantageous to be a bit too horny than not horny enough. This means that people will often develop fetishes for things that are simply adjacent to the concept of sex, not just sex itself. Where foot fetishism is unique is that the sensation for feet and genitalia happen to be extremely close to each other in the brain, so the twitchy trigger finger of sex neurons will form connections with feet more commonly than any other type of fetish, and because feet are kind of a “gross” body part due to nature of its function, it leads to people to who don’t have the fetish being especially bewildered by it. But if you really think about it, vaginas are just as, if not even more disgusting than feet if it was completely removed from the context of sex.
