Discord was made originally to be used while playing a video game; it is basically a in-game voice and text chat on an external site that you can use for games that don't have one. And while they've added other things into it, it is still an in-game text and voice chat at its core and that structure promotes the behaviors it was built for. That's why you see what happens always does; the structure isn’t made for long term organizing or use, so it either results in stagnation as everyone runs out of things to talk about, degeneracy (since we all know what happens to text chats in video games), or collapses as the standard autistic shitfest that happens in game chats will inevitably happens because Discord is a fucking game chat and I'm tired of everyone pretending it's not.
