Even if the sound only exists in your own head, and isn't the result of external inputs, it is exactly as real as any subjective sound that DOES result from external inputs. The conception of sound itself is wholly internal to the brain anyway.
If a tree falls in the woods, and there are no conscious observers to subjectively interpret the displaced air molecules as sound, it doesn't actually make a "sound."
