>>62225037The transition from ARR to Heavensward was when I really started getting drawn in besides The Praetorium. The Keeper of the Lake sent chills down my spine with the narrative and I got hooked... But the gameplay really doesn't pick up till 60, and most classes don't feel perfect till 70+.
I found the DPS classes that were the most fun for me were Samurai, Red Mage, and Machinist. For tanking Warrior and Dark Knight. I healed with White Mage mainly.... And my guilty pleasure with Dragoon.
Storyline drops off a bit in Stormblood and Shadowbringers and Endwalker gets good, but I see your problem is you don't like the narrative... Then yeah FF14 probably isn't the best for you, WoW is definitely more suited to that, even classic you can grind with the right class set ups to 60+ etc in vanilla. Even warrior can do pretty fast AoE but nothing compared to the AoE kings or pet users.
