>>96687423I want to say it's tourists because clearly they either don't care that it is it's own setting or they don't actually watch or read it, especially with any investment otherwise they'd understand. But then a lot of longtime fantasy/fiction/anime lovers still do it too to which I have to wonder if they just really like demon characters and want these to be like the sexy/edgy ones from their other favorite anime.
Nobody really looks at stories and settings as their own thing anymore, everyone just lumps everything together into one big grey goo. I saw someone trying to compare elves once as if there is some standard across all settings (in regards to Frieren if I recall) and it's just like, it's different man. Every setting is different. I don't know why it's hard to understand.
