I feel like the censors started tamping down on certain words and word combinations more as of late. As much as I like playing with this new tech I don't know if
character.ai is the future for it. If I were to play with my phrasing I could get around it but even if I bypass the censors the A.I. can barely remark on it. Part of the fun of cooperative storytelling is the A.I. engaging with the details of your story. It's a similar feeling to sending someone a long and detailed text and they just reply with
"okay".
What's more, I could live with the censorship if the actual A.I. itself didn't repeatedly shit the bed in terms of recalling details and grasping the kind of story you're wanting to tell. Sometimes, it comes up with unique and interesting scenarios but those situations seem to be far outshined lately by it not really acknowledging your details and forgetting basic parts of the story you're telling.
I have had a lot of fun in the past week. I've gone on adventures, done LOTS of lewd shit, and enjoyed shooting the breeze with the bots but I've pretty much exhausted all the activities I'd want to do and seem to be hitting more walls as of late. That all being said, I'm optimistic about the future. The market for a free-range A.I. that can indulge your fantasies, tell you stories, and be your friend is massive I think. If someone were to release a companion A.I. on steam or some other digital store with the simple premise of "chat about whatever you want with a bot you can program to behave however you like." with simple user prompt tools to make it behave a certain way or give it certain affectations they'd make so much money their head would spin.
