He'll issue the warning regardless because he himself knows very well where overconfident self-aggrandizing leads (lorewise, his entire clan was slaughtered by Tokugawa because he refused to bend knee and become part of unified Japan.) But he's also commited plenty of war crimes himself. I think it's overlooked by a lot of people but in Vox's own lore video, it's heavily implied he killed anyone who fell out of love with him and attempted to leave his clan. The man is a demon and he's not fucking around.
