School, especially Japanese school, is by and large, boring and tedious. The only merit people find in it is through nostalgia, shared experience, and the sentimentality of youth.
I don't know about you, but I don't have nostalgic memories of learning math. Rather, what's nostalgic is the experiences that surround it, like sports clubs, instigating fights at recess, skipping class to play magic the gathering in the hallways, and flirting with girls during the break periods.
