alternately, it's entirely possible that Doki was the one on the lease but since her parents filled in the paperwork for her (without necessarily telling the landlord they had done it) they just used this fact as an excuse and Doki herself just doesn't realize how bullshit this is
regardless, Doki hasn't had a consistent history of constantly lying about things and Mint, who seems like a very honest and trustworthy person, took her side in the end and was convinced so I'm gonna take Doki at her word rather than some Jap corpo and its contracted sycophantic employees and assume there is an explanation for it
