>>78827754disagree and maybe it's due to personal perspective, but I see vtubing primarily as a safe way for women to stream where they couldn't before, or were only able to do voice without a visual representation of themselves. even women who are conventionally attractive enough to not be harassed off the platform for being ugly still have to deal with constant sexual comments about their real bodies, comments made about vtuber bodies are way more removed from reality and are easier to ignore (or lean in to for some vtubers) without any actual consequences. that's not even getting into deepfake shit that's now everywhere, it makes total sense to protect your face for reasons beside doxxing
if you could choose whatever appearance you wanted to while you entertain people online, why would you not want to do that? why is that considered a grift? grifts generally imply that people are lying to get coin but what lying is involved here?
