I have a new network switch coming today. I bought a 2.5 gigabit Switch for £30 which is a bargain. I have 10 Gigabit going to my desktop and file server via Cat6 and another old Cat5 cable connected to this 2.5 gig switch. It's only connected to a gigabit port right now because the SFP modules don't do 2.5 gig but with this new switch in theory I should be able to fix that (in theory depending on the state of this shitty old Cat5 cable.).
