overall, the forest protects itself, but saplings would be keeping an eye on how many things are being killed; should a hooman ever kill an animal and simply leave the corpse there, or should there be any other sign of hunting for simply sport, things would get prickly
the only protected places that outsiders might conceivably make it to without outright dying might be the elder trees, but the only one hoomans would probably know about is the one in the UUUing Woods; if for some reason hoomans made it deep enough into the forest in that direction, they would be stopped and asked to turn around
honestly, hooman hunters would probably have their own lore and myths about the shit that goes down if you stray too far into the forests of /uuu/; how they would rationalize it in their own culture, Id leave up to you
