>>127915Anon, you know what the secret is to being a good poster on a place like this?
Never stay static. Never let yourself fall into a rut. That includes what you post, how you post it, and what you post with. That includes not ever resting on laurels of an "identity," no matter how attractive that would be. I bet you you've talked to Soraposter before and just didn't even realize it.
I'm not Soraposter. Soraposter is a person who posts quality advice and information with pictures of Sora, because she is the person that poster associates with the idea of "an ideal," while using that status responsibly, and not being haughty. Thus, when they want to post something they see as a quality post that should be remembered, they use a picture that matches that mindset.
Soraposter existed for months before being identified. Look in the archives and you'll see that it's true. I doubt you associate them with the intricacies and different styles of seductive women, but there it is. Over time, people associated the picture with the person, and defined their role. When that happened, the posts got scarce compared to before, but when they did come, they were more refined to fit that role. Eventually, the roles defined into a rigid form. Soraposter posted until people noticed them. People associated Soraposter with informative posts. They didn't want to lose that association, so they stopped posting with it as much, but when they did post, they only used the picture for things they were confident filled the role assigned to them. That started a cycle, and it'll only break if they ever break it.
For all you or I know, they post just like you or me, but only choose to identify themselves when they want to dump something more useful, or spend their influence in a way that improves the thread. Overuse of the identity would dilute it, Sorapoaster would go from "respectable source of info and level headed guidance," to "partisan thread poster/avatarfag," and then their one playing card to influence the thread's collective consciousness would be wasted.
He talked about revising his work in that post last thread. The only reason someone would revise their posts on this hellsite is if they wanted to put on a good face. And if my read on them is accurate, they wanted to do that so they could fulfill their end of the implied social contract. "Soraposter posts are high quality, which is why the threads trust him. Therefore, if the threads are to trust him, Soraposter must post high quality."
You've probably called him a faggot when he says something stupid, and I probably have, too, but they didn't use the image, and they weren't being formal or revising their shitposts, so you didn't associate the writing style with them.
When you post on a site like this long enough, you learn some shit. One of the things you learn fast is that if you ever get assigned a role, that role should only be used for that purpose from then on, and you move on to posting with other traits for other purposes until you get pinned down in another role, and another set of tics.
Maybe you did the same thing, and you already know that. Maybe you swapped to a different posting style to reach out. Maybe he did the same to you before. But that's the beauty of a site like this, isn't it? You and I will never know what they're thinking, and they'll never know what me or you are thinking. Or for outsiders in this conversation, they won't even know if there are three people here, or four, or five, or two, or one. We can be pretty sure, but never perfectly sure. And that's what makes it special. We're all Clark Kents here on a base level. Some of us get called Superman. But all they need to do to be Clark again is to put on their glasses, and change their images and posting idiosyncrasies. And we'll never know for sure.
