Women never have to be funny in order to garner attention socially, since women are extremely friendly with other women, and men are extremely friendly with women they want to date. By contrast, if you're male, you need to be funny or skillful for other men to want to interact with you, and funny or handsome for women to want to interact with you.
So the social forces of being a woman make women unfunny. It's just how it is, sorry.
