>>100619710Alright Nina, I don't ever go looking for Bible verses, sometimes the appropriate ones just get recommended to me and I got two that I read for the first time yesterday so I have to share them because they're relevant.
>And if one member suffer any thing, all the members suffer with it; or if one member glory, all the members rejoice with it.- 1 Corinthians 12:26
And here are two commentaries by St Augustine so that we can understand its meaning.
>Suppose you had a disjointed finger. Would you not tremble in all your limbs? Would you not hurry to the doctor to have the finger set? Surely, then, your body is in good condition when all its members are in agreement, the one with the other. Then you are considered healthy, and really are well.- Augustine of Hippo
>Far be it from us to refuse to hear what is bitter and sad to those whom we love. It is not possible for one member to suffer without the other members suffering with it.- Augustine of Hippo
And heres the other.
>Bear ye one another’s burdens; and so you shall fulfill the law of Christ.- Galatians 6:2
And here is commentary by St John Chrysostom
>It being impossible for man to be without failings, he exhorts them not to scrutinize severely the offenses of others, but even to bear their failings, that their own may in turn be borne by others. As, in the building of a house, all the stones hold not the same position, but one is fitted for a corner but not for the foundations, another for the foundations, and not for the corner so too is it in the body of the Church. The same thing holds in the frame of our own flesh; notwithstanding which, the one member bears with the other, and we do not require every thing from each, but what each contributes in common constitutes both the body and the building.- John Chrysostom
In short, we all need each other and must support each other. Your suffering is my suffering, my suffering is your suffering, your joy is my joy, and my joy is your joy. Which is why it deeply pained me to hear about your upcoming plans. The same goes for everyone else who is reading this, we are all connected. I thought it was crazy to get those two verses shown to me last night.
>appI use the app "Catena" thats how they got recommended to me, I didnt hear them in my head or something crazy like that. I recommend the app because it contains church father commentary. If you're going to use it set the settings to Douay Rheims translation, all commentaries, and keep the non canonized scholars toggle in the off position.
>lastlyGood job Nina! and I learned you have super hectic schedule, I dont know how you do it, to hear that your would-be schedule in japan is less crazy that what you're going through right now, is insane to me. Maybe thats why you want to go? Feel free to take breaks Nina, you dont want to burn out. You hide it well but I assume youre riddled in stress. I don't know how you do it, de-stress and don't worry about us. Take your time, Eat some tompouce, relax and be well Nina.
