>>4024330My motivations are different but the sentiment is the same, ever since I got my own PC I've seen a lot of what the internet has to offer. Some of it good, some of it bad, but just being able to see the other side of the world that real life doesn't show is astounding.
However, there was this constant feeling that everyone, like me, resigned to thinking the internet as this fictional place where you could share more obscure hobbies in an impersonal way. Because let's be real, I'm sure everyone here is average at best and an irl ugly bastard at worst.
But vtubing was the bridge between interpersonal communication and realism that I never knew was possible. It allows everyone to share their personalities and interests in a direct way while having the security that an avatar provides. It's a new way for "nerds" to be the celebrities within the same group of nerds.
This is also why I'm against thinking of vtubers as idols, streamers, content creators, whores, bloggers, etc. Vtubing is the tool, not the end product, and I'm excited to see the uses it'll have in the future.
